RTW This special little EP stands outside Ka-Spel's regular work as a thoughtful and intimate rumination for veterans on Veterans Day (including his own father). The spareness of the songs hearkens back to his earliest material, and some of that is resurrected here, such as a new take on "Poppy Day." But the standout by far is the spoken word piece "Friendly Fire," which is at times creepy, sad, and deeply moving. Favorite track: 11.11.11.

I love having this in CDR format because: a) it is Edward; b) I have The Quarantine Tapes of which this is the first “volume” and, like it or not, cassette tapes are cool but they are not ultra-durable; c) the music is fabulous (OK, this should probably be the first reason, but since I already have the cassette, it must languish at “c”); and d) hopefully this means the remaining three volumes of The Quarantine Tapes will be released as lovingly made CDRs.
