Cover versions are as rare as skating spiders in the Pink Dots' huge discography.As I type this I can l recall an interpretation of "Super" for a tribute album dedicated to the mighty German pioneers ,Neu, and a song from the early 80's entitled "Boule (Viens Ici)", by the absolutely wonderful French band Ptose Production. It was a song covered by many artists following a direct request from Lionel of Ptose, and the results were joyful and refreshing. Consequently when asked to make another cover version of the timeless Ptose song, La Nuit Des Sauriens for a tribute release to the band and the long running and delightful French Radio Show with the same name , EK had no hesitation.
The physical version of the tribute album is a jaw dropping double 7" and cd on Mecapop with artwork by Jef Benech (who earlier designed and released "The Terminal Kaleidoscope" cd edition). I love having this in CDR format because: a) it is Edward; b) I have The Quarantine Tapes of which this is the first “volume” and, like it or not, cassette tapes are cool but they are not ultra-durable; c) the music is fabulous (OK, this should probably be the first reason, but since I already have the cassette, it must languish at “c”); and d) hopefully this means the remaining three volumes of The Quarantine Tapes will be released as lovingly made CDRs.
