mattyg107 A much better introduction than Brighter Now for any novice about to take their long journey. Very close to the polished sounding Dots but not quite there yet. Palace of Love sounds like reworked melodies from April's Song (which is apparently their oldest surviving song) and that's the one downfall of this album. If you were a huge fan and owned the earliest tapes many of these songs you'd have heard before (Love Puppets, Doll's house, Stoned Obituary) Still solid work and I can always revisit. Favorite track: Dolls' House/The Palace of Love.

Jason E Lectric It's Legendary Pink Dots, and it's a classic album - what more can I say? Absolute bliss! Favorite track: Love Puppets.

RTW This album has an inexplicable cult behind it. Maybe it's the goth-looking cover. Like its predecessor, I find it harbors one shockingly good monster of a track ("Love Puppets") that simply makes the others look slight. "Lisa's Party" does manage to be both cute and macabre at the same time, while "The Palace of Love" is an unheralded, intense gem that deserves recognition independent of the annoying "Dolls' House." Honorable mention goes to the ambitious "Stoned Obituary." Favorite track: Love Puppets.

From 1983, this was meant to be the first LPDs vinyl album, but it was delayed owing to the NER label's desire to release "Brighter Now" in this format. In the interim, certain tracks were left out ("Powdercrowd", "Purity" and "The Light in my little girl's eyes")
