When the entire population is given a warning that it’s dangerous to go outside then it’s important to adapt to the new reality as soon as possible. I had no idea when a veneer of normality would be there again back in 2020 when COVID claimed so many. The only way to deal with it was to create as if every day would potentially be the last. “Permission To Leave the Temple “ and “ The Deep” were among the first recordings made during that initial lockdown and it now feels like a good moment to open them up to a wider public, at least temporarily. I love having this in CDR format because: a) it is Edward; b) I have The Quarantine Tapes of which this is the first “volume” and, like it or not, cassette tapes are cool but they are not ultra-durable; c) the music is fabulous (OK, this should probably be the first reason, but since I already have the cassette, it must languish at “c”); and d) hopefully this means the remaining three volumes of The Quarantine Tapes will be released as lovingly made CDRs.
